Quality Youth- נוער איכותי

After the massacre of the 8 Yeshiva Mercaz Harav students in Jerusalem, we, the mishlachat members in South Africa , together with the National Youth Movement Council embarked on a campaign of solidarity with the families of the murdered pupils. An article in the newspaper, an email to over 6000 people, prayers in the shuls, hasbarah at the King David Schools and at Eden College, Crawford College and Herzlia were all part of the campaign. Memorial corners at Beyachad (Community Centre), universities and schools have been set up. The wonderful thing is that all the Youth Movements joined together overlooking their ideological differences. Habonim, Netzer and Betar all stood in an amazing act of solidarity and support. Last Thursday, we received an update on Gideon Prodgers, the Habonim madrich who is hospitalised in Israel in a critical condition. WE told everyone and the response was immediate despite their differences in ideology . The chanichim and madrichim from B’nei Akiva attended a huge prayer vigil for the safety and health of Gideon Prodgers. The prayers took place in Cape Town and at the B’nei Akiva bayit in Johannesburg. At the National Youth Movement Council, I expressed my deep gratitude to the mazkirim and shlichim for their actions .

During the year and just before the Zionist Youth Movement machanot, there is much competition for the hearts of the chanichim. There are differences in ideology and philosophies but in a crisis or at a difficult moment we have discovered the true face of our youth. Their values are superb - they value respect, and they have a great respect for life as well . They are a true example to the entire community - they are youth who act and behave according to Jewish values, youth who know how to raise themselves into brotherhood and humanity, youth who in their actions have assured themselves a place as leaders and community leaders in the South African Jewish community. They are an excellent asset for a glorious, Zionist community! Youth who Israel will be happy to include and accept!

בעקבות הרצח של תלמידי ישיבת מרכז הרב ברושלים יצאנו (חברי המשלחת בדרא"פ יחד עם מועצת תנועות הנוער) בקמפיין תמיכה במשפחות.
כתבה בעיתון, מייל בתפוצה ענקית(כ- 6000 איש), תפילות בבתי הכנסת, הסברה בבתי הספר- באמת כיסוי נרחב של הקהילה.
המעניין בכל העניין הוא שכל תנועות הנוער התגייסו לעניין- ללא קשר אידיאולוגי- הבונים, נצ"ר, בית"ר. אקט מדהים של סולידאריות ותמיכה.
ביום ה' האחרון קיבלנו עדכון כי מצבו של גדעון פרוג'רס- מדריך הבונים המאושפז בישראל קריטי והוא על סף מוות.
ההתגייסות היתה מיידית והפעם מהצד השני של המתרס: חניכי ומדריכי בני עקיבא הגיעו לתפילת ענק לשלומו של מדריך הבונים- גדעון פרוג'רס בקייפטאון ובבית של בני עקיבא ביוהנסבורג.
בישיבת מועצת תנועות הנוער הלאומית ציינתי את התרשמותי מההתגייסות המיידית של מזכירי התנועות והשליחים.
במהלך השנה ובמהלך קיום המחנות מתקיימת תחרות על ליבם של החניכים, ישנם חילוקי הדעות על הרקע האידיאולוגי ותפיסות העולם, אך ברגעי משבר קשים אלה אנו מגלים את פרצופם האמיתי של בני נוער איכותיים וערכיים אלה. בני נוער שערכי כבוד האדם וכבוד החיים למול עיניהם. בני נוער שערכים יהודיים הם הערכים המנחים את פעולתם ופעילותם. בני נוער היודעים להתעלות ולהרים את עצמם למדרגת האחווה והאנושיות.
בני נוער שבעצם העשייה שלהם הציבו עצמם כמנהיגים ומובילים קהילתיים של קהילת יהודי דרא"פ.
